January 2016 VHF Contest (1/30-1/31)
Posted by Jarred - KF2MR

In 2015 the Rochester VHF Group posted 12 logs for 36,633 points. Great participation level and a lot of fun. Lets see if we can reach 15 logs and 50,000 points in 2016. One way to do that is to take advantage of the ability to submit logs as a single operator and again as a rover. We have tentative plans to meet up for lunch in LeRoy on 1/31. Maybe you can start at home on Saturday, then join us for a meal and a unique opportunity to contribute to the cumulative club score on Sunday. Please post your plans or ideas for how to hit the goal of 15 logs and 50,000 points.

The January contest offers twice the points for microwave contacts as other contests. Instead of 4 points per contact, the rules offer a premium 8 points per contact on 2.3G and above. So I will bring along the 2.3G transverter as well as the 10G WBFM radio. Even if I only get one contact per grid, that is still 64 points on both sides and 8 new grids.
